Performance Assessment Weekend

Across 30-31 March, 385 youth and junior athletes from across all the Home Nations and Jersey are set to take part in the British Triathlon’s Performance Assessment weekend. The meet acts as both the gateway into and first event of the British Youth and Junior Super Series. With limited start numbers in all further Super Series events, competition this weekend will be fierce as athletes attempt to secure their places for future races.

The event not only marks the start of the season but is the single biggest Pathway event of the year. Saturday, which takes place at Nottingham University, features a pool based swim for competitors alongside a host of workshops for all attending athletes and parents designed to support whole athlete (person) development. Presenters include National Programme staff, coaches and sports scientists/sports medicine practitioners along with current World Class athletes and their own parents with topics built around the Athlete Development Framework. The day also includes a University meet and greet opportunity, allowing athletes and parents to engage with staff and coaches from the leading Triathlon University programmes.

Sundays activity is focusses on the bike/run disciplines and is based at Prestwold Hall Motor Racing Circuit. Athletes are released into T1 in pursuit format with the fastest swimmer first and the rest of the field following according to their time deficit to complete a back to back T1/Bike/T2/Run.
