Besançon ITU Paratriathlon World Cup

A small team of paratriathletes are racing in the first ITU Paratriathlon World Cup on Sunday in Besançon, France.  This is a new level of competition for paratriathletes, with a view to enabling developing athletes to race in international competition and score ITU ranking points.

Paralympian, Phil Hogg, will race in the PTHC category in his first ITU race of the season following an extended break from training after the Rio Paralympic Games.  With Commonwealth Games selection available for the PTHC athletes, Hogg is looking for a strong start to his international race season.

Veteran soldier, Steve Crowley, a below knee leg amputee, will also start his international race season in Besançon having been reclassified into the PTS4 category. Crowley said:  "I'm looking forward to getting my season underway. I've had a good block of training and I am keen to find out where I now sit under the new classification system. Besançon will be a good first test and a good way to gauge my progress ready for Kitzbuehel."

Paratriathlon Talent Squad athletes Bret Crossley (PTHC) and John Fulton (PTS2) will also be racing and looking to perform well as they aim to develop their careers in paratriathlon.
