It’s all about Kona this weekend, as the Hawaiian island is back hosting the IRONMAN World Championships for the 39th year running. Elsewhere, age-groupers will flock to Bedford, with two opportunities to qualify for the Great Britain Age-Group Team up for grabs.

IRONMAN World Championships

Kona is in the spotlight yet again this weekend, the event being well established in the triathlon calendar. Triathletes will be taking on a 140.6-mile journey around the island in an ultimate test of a triathlete’s skills.  2012 champion, Leanda Cave and three-time podium finisher, Rachel Joyce are amongst the British pro’s lining up, with first-timer, Lucy Charles also looking to get amongst the medals.

Bedford Autodrome Duathlon

The Bedford Autodrome is once again hosting an opportunity for prospective Great Britain Age-Group Team members to secure a sought-after GB tri suit this weekend.

Participants will be racing around the beautiful and historic Thurleigh Airfield, starting with a run around the smooth, flat surface followed by a transition into the pit lane and onto the bike leg. A final run will decide who gets on to the podium.

With both a sprint and standard distance duathlon race taking place, there are two opportunities in which to qualify for the team in 2018.
