What’s coming up this weekend

The second round of the ITU World Triathlon Series takes place on Saturday in Bermuda, whilst Texas has IRONMAN action, and Marbella is hosting its first ever IRONMAN 70.3 event. The final chance for Age Group athletes to qualify for the Sprint Distance Duathlon World Championships takes place on Sunday.

2018 ITU World Triathlon Bermuda

Flora Duffy welcomes athletes from across the world to her home island of Bermuda. Vicky Holland, Jodie Stimpson and Georgia Taylor-Brown will compete against the two-time World Champion. It’s live on the BBC Online and Connected TV, but don’t miss the highlights on Sunday morning at 11am on BBC2 where Jess Learmonth will be one of the guest presenters.

IRONMAN Texas

Will Clarke and Kim Morrison are the sole British pro athletes at Ironman Texas on Saturday with several others having withdrawn through injury. Clarke, a 2008 Olympian, was fourth last year and could challenge for a podium spot if he’s fully recovered from a bike crash that kept him out of Kona.

IRONMAN 70.3 Marbella 2018

Marbella hosts its first 70.3 race on Sunday in which Britain’s Kona podium finisher David McNamee will be starting his long-distance season. He’s amongst a fairly large British contingent, but Emma Pallant is unable to start having injured her calf at Ironman South Africa.

2018 Fyn ITU Sprint Distance Duathlon World Championships

After rescheduling due to bad weather conditions last month, Oulton Park hosts the final chance for Age Group athletes to qualify for the World Championships being held in Fyn, Denmark in July.
