Who is your 2019 BBC Sport Unsung Hero?

Published:

The BBC have launched their search for the Unsung Sporting Hero of 2019, and it could be someone you know.

Triathlon clubs, events and athletes across Britain exist because of volunteers who give their time and energy to support the sport they love. The BBC Unsung Sporting Hero of the Year recognises these people, without whom triathlon as we know it simply wouldn’t be possible.

This award is for the coach who helps you achieve your goal no matter how big or small it is; the Event Organiser who goes above and beyond to provide you with great experiences; and the Technical Official who helps ensure you take part in safe and fair races.

All types of volunteer go about their work to support you and your triathlon experiences without seeking recognition. They are often the first people to arrive and last people to leave, as well as putting in countless hours of preparation and planning throughout the week.

Volunteers are vital to the growth of triathlon, working tirelessly to provide you with the opportunity to train, race and develop your skills.

Sport helps to bring communities together across the UK through clubs, events and activities on a weekly basis. Remaining in the background, volunteers are at the forefront of this and work behind the scenes to help make it all happen.

Nominate your Unsung Hero and say thank you to the people who support your triathlon journey by doing the work you don’t see, to make what you do see possible.
