Community and Open Water
All sports need inspirational individuals who motivate people to take part and stay involved in sporting activity.
The solution is the Activator who could be quite simply anyone - an interested parent, spouse, sibling, an active triathlete, a qualified coach or Technical Official. Activators may take on a variety of roles depending on their environment, ranging from welcoming people, organising activities and leading the activity, such as warm ups and transition games, before handing over to the coach for the technical activities.
There are three separate activator based programmes in development and being piloted.
Within the North East we have the Community and Open Water Award organised.
- Activator: Young People Award
- Activator: Community Award - Saturday 20th January at Wakepark North East, Stockton
- Activator: Open Water Award - Saturday 17th March at Hartlepool Marina
The Community Award is to provide passionate and enthusiastic individuals (18+ Years of Age) with the confidence and skills to lead a variety of activities aimed at encouraging participation within the sport. To book please click here.
The Open Water Activator course will be heavily focused around safety and risk management and supporting open water swimmers. To book please click here.
