North West Junior Series Scores

The North West Junior Triathlon Series 2015 draft scores after the final race of the season at Salt Ayre can be found by clicking  HERE.

The results will remain in draft format until 26th September when they will be classified as final. Anyone that has queries with the results should e-mail me immediately at rolf.cooley@talktalk.net

If anyone has any suggestions about things to include or change in the 2016 Junior Series please let me know by the end of September via e-mail at rolf.cooley@talktalk.net.

As announced at the Club Championships at Salt Ayre, the North West Regions Presentation night has been postponed due to circumstances beyond the control of the North West Committee. Due to the relatively late change in date it is now proving difficult to find a suitable venue before Christmas so the revised date will probably be in January 2016. Please watch this web page for further news on this matter.

The AGM for the North West Regional Committee will take place at the Lancashire Manor Hotel, Pimbo on Thursday 8th October 2015, starting at 7pm. If you have any items you would like to have raised, would like to attend or would be interested in taking on a committee role then please contact me asap.

The agenda for the AGM can be downloaded HERE.

2015 Series Rules

1. North West Junior Triathlon Series 2015 (T1, T2, T3 and Youth)

The series will be one continuous series of events throughout the season with trophies available for the top five in each category.

  1. Those participating in the standard distance events in the Tristar 1 (ages 9/10), Tristar 2 (ages 11/12), Tristar 3 (ages 13/14) and Youth (15/16) categories, will score points for each race they complete. At the end of the season the points are added and trophies awarded to the top five in each age category and for each gender. Ages are taken as they will be on 31st December 2015.
  2. Many events should also have shorter distance races (Sprint and Super Sprint) as well for those who those who are new to the sport or do not want to compete over the longer standard distances. This gives everyone an opportunity to have a go but you will not accumulate Series points by doing these shorter distances.
  3. Any child can enter any of the races that are part of the North West Series i.e. they do not have to live  in the North West Region and nor do they need to be Triathlon England members - however, to score points and compete for prizes in the North West Series they do need to meet all the Series Criteria below.
  4. The specific criteria for the series are given below.

Series Criteria:

  1. To be eligible for prizes, athletes must be a member of Triathlon England, Triathlon Scotland or Welsh Triathlon by July 1st 2015 at the latest.
  2. Best 8 races to count. Race score based on the first NW competitor scoring 100 and all others having a score calculated by dividing the first North West competitor time (usully the winner) by the placed competitors time. This is then multiplied by 100 to give a percentage score between 0 and 100.
  3. A minimum of 4 scoring races must be completed to be eligible for a prize.
  4. No more than 4 of the counting races can be Aquathons or Duathlons.
  5. All competitors must reside in the North West Region or declare their intention to participate only in this regional series to the Children's Chair before July 1st 2015.
  6. Prizes available for the first 5 in Youths, T3, T2 & T1 categories for each gender.
  7. Achievement Award Certificates will be presented to all children that complete 8 points counting races in the Series [at least 4 must be Triathlons] in recognition for their efforts during the season.Children do not need to be Triathlon England members to receieve an Achievement Certificate.
  8. Any competitors that have a tied score after taking their best 8 scores at the end of the series will be split by looking at the ‘next best’ scoring event. The competitor with the highest ‘9th best’ scoring event will win. If scores are still tied then “10th best” scoring events are compared and so on until a winner is found.

Please note that a change to Rule 7 is being discussed and may change before the rules are finalised for 2015.

  1. Clubs must register their intention to participate, be affiliated to Triathlon England and be based in the North West Region. Clubs that do not meet this criteria must contact the North West Regions Children's Chair to discuss entry details. (rolf.cooley@talktalk.net)
  2. Clubs must submit a team sheet containing the names and age group of their club members that they have competing for their club at least 6 days prior to the event.
  3. To be eligible to represent a club, individuals must be fully paid up members of that club at least one full month before the Club Championship event.
  4. Points will be scored for TriStar Start, T1, T2, T3 and Youth age groups in standard distance races
  5. Only the first 2 competitors for a club in each age group and sex will score points [i.e. will be a points scoring competitor].
  6. The first competitor in each age group and sex will score 100 points. The second competitor in each age group and sex will score 99 points and so on with each and every subsequent points scoring competitor, scoring one point less than the previous points scoring competitor.
  7. Where clubs have only one or no competitors in a particular age group then the “non present” competitors will score points equivalent to being in last place. I.E. if there are 40 scoring children in the event then the 40th placed competitor would score 61 points. Any “non present” competitors, in this example, would score 60 points. This method of scoring will allow any club to enter the competition, even if they only send 1 athlete.
  8. Where clubs are tied on points at the end of the Championship then the highest placed individual will determine which club finishes higher. i.e. if two clubs are tied on points and if the first clubs highest placed individual is 3rd and a second clubs highest placed individual is 6th the former club will be placed higher.
