Over the 8 weeks leading up to Easter 2023, 24 teams of 6 from 7 clubs spread across the North West took part in the 3rd annual Zwift Racing series. This was the biggest event yet. The event is designed to foster participation and inter-club co-operation across the region and engage in a friendly competition during the winter months.
Each week clubs are aired up and race in teams of 6 over 10 mile courses on Zwift. The race results are compiled and when all clubs have raced each other in a round-robin schedule, there is one mass race Grand Finale. Throughout the series we had stories of club members taking their turbo trainers on holiday so they could participate, new FTP records being set, dramatic final sprints, team tactics and even team members racing despite a house in disarray with a gas leak! (Not recommended).
Over the 8 weeks we had 153 individuals taking part from 7 clubs. With 20 events, 850 finishes in 6 different Zwift Worlds, it was a great series which was much enjoyed.
The club captains each nominated one of their team members who epitomised the spirit of the event. These riders received a £10 voucher courtesy of The Endurance Hub as a reward, while the winning team, of 6 are invited to a special training session at the National Cycling Centre Velodrome in Manchester later in the year.

We already have 2 additional teams seeking to join the 2024 Competition as we seek to expand the series next year. The series is only made possible thanks to the use of British Triathlon partner - Zwift.
