The officiating pathway consists of five levels starting with a Local Technical Official and going up to officiating at ITU events. The pathway enables officials to increase the level of event they are eligible to officiate at, both as the chief official or as an assistant official.
Within the South East we are looking to encourage every club within the region to have at least one Local Technical Official (LTO) as part of their club.
This will benefit each club hugely as they will have a trained official who will be knowledgeable about the rules of triathlon and can pass on that knowledge with your club and educate others.
Our team have drawn up a couple of documents to explain what Technical Officials’ are required for;
- From a club members perspective; and
- From an event organisers perspective.
If you are interested in becoming a Technical Official the following courses will be run in the South East and are now available to enrol on;
To give you an idea of what other Technical Officials say about the role, here are some recent quotes received;
"It's just nice to give something back to the sport I have enjoyed for so many years and I love encouraging the 'newbies'." Tina Seymour, RTO
"I like refereeing because I like to help make events run safer, fairer and smoother. I also like helping competitors by answering their queries about BTF rules and regulations." Alex Keenan, LTO
“Officiating is a great way to give back to the sport whilst being in the centre of the action, helping educating and promoting enjoyment to not only those competing but also the spectators.” Anthony Shaw, RTO (TESE Official of the year 2015)
