Skills School on the Beach!

Skills School went to the beach last weekend visiting Brighton and Hove Lawns for a Skills School to prepare young athletes for the Brighton and Hove Triathlon next weekend.   A session in the sea followed by transition practice on the lawns – lots of fun and games while developing important skills.  Good luck to everyone racing next weekend.

Then Sunday 2nd September saw a very different Skills School -this time for some of our IRC (Inter Regional Championship) team and advanced athletes wanting to race in drafting races next season.  We started at Leybourne Lakes for open water racing skills and then moved on to Cyclopark to practice dead turns and riding in a group as well as mixed relay practice.  Thanks in particular to Leybourne Lakes for supporting this special Skills School and making this such a good session for the athletes.

This brought the 2018 Skills School season to a close.  My thanks to all the coaches over this weekend, namely Chris Neilson (Horsham Amphibians), Rachel Baker (Mid Sussex Junior Tri Club), Hazel Fulker (Forever Tri Club) and Ian Keyes (Oxford Youth Tri, City of Oxford Swim Club) all at Brighton and Colin Reynolds (Weald Tri Club), Duncan Scott (thetrilife.com) and Alan Gar (Phoenix Tri Club) for coaching at the IRC Skills School.  Skills School 2019 will be starting at the end of October and events will be shown on the TESE Facebook Page .

Junior Race Series Winners Announced

Many congratulations to the JRS 2018 winners who are: Emily Stone (TriStart), Olivia Garthwaite and Luke  Draper (TS1), Gabriella Horne and Alex Dack (TS2) and Bethany Cook and Michael Gar (TS3).    This season saw some great competition and the emergence of many talented triathletes - well done to the winners and to everyone that took part.  The series finished at Bri Tri Kids Tri - a great race with a real family atmosphere - thanks to the organisers from Bri Tri for making this happen.  The JRS would not take place without the hard work of race organisers, Technical Officials, parents and the energy and enthusiasm of the athletes themselves.  Everyone deserves a thank-you.

For some athletes the season is not over, there are still races to take part in and for the IRC team next weekend the Inter Regional Championships at Mallory Park where our athletes will compete against the very best in the country.  Good luck to the South East team - Lauren Mitchell, Gabriella Horne, Isabella Gar, Alex Dack, Max Cooper, Aiden Elford, Bethany Cook, Hannah Mitchell, Megan Ormiston, Michael Gar, Oliver Horne and Tom Hutton. Go South East!

And look out also for news of the Inter Regional Duathlon:  London vs South East being held on Sunday November 4th.  Who will win this years competition - can the South East repeat their comprehensive victory of 2017?
