South West AGM and awards

Published:

Bath University was the venue for our regional AGM and annual awards 2019.

That was where the similarity to previous years stopped. This year we saw over 120 from the region attend aged 7-70+ as we integrated the junior section awards into the seniors immediately after the AGM. We were delighted to host Vicky Holland who joined us to hand out the prizes on the day itself as well as representatives from our South West Junior Academy and The Bath Triathlon Centre.

The AGM’s main role is to report to the members the activity for the year, which was completed in the form of the Chairmans report from Ashley Hutchison and the treasurers statement written by Rachel Hepworth. Copies of both are available on request be emailing sw.secretary@britishtriathlon.co.uk.

The committee was all prepared to re-stand and I am delighted to report all were re-elected back into their original posts as below:

Chairman - Ashley Hutchinson -
Vice-Chair - Jane Wild
Treasurer - Rachel Hepworth
Secretary - Alan Bayliss
Junior Series Officer - Melanie Cumberland
Regional Championships Coordinator - Roger Wakeling
Technical Officer - Lorraine Ferris

The committee meeting prior to the AGM also appointed Scott Latham to a role supporting Roger with our regional championships.

The region is looking for a communications officer as a priority. One of our primary roles is to communicate with our 2,800 south west based members and 80 clubs and to promote our and their activity. The role knits together objectives in regional growth, commercial partnership goals as well as our helping shape and promote our regional awards and championships. The role is responsible for shaping and managing our communications strategy and platforms including social media, website and newsletters.

If you are interested in supporting your regional committee at this exciting time please get in touch with the Chairman Ashley on sw.chair@britishtriathlon.co.uk
