Who are your Regional Committee?

Meet your Regional Committee and find out what they do for you and how to get in touch with them.

The Regional committee consists of unpaid volunteers and is supported by a full-time Regional Development Manager (funded by Triathlon England) that work to encourage and support triathlon clubs and events in the region. The aim of the committee is to make the very most of the limited time and funds available to ensure first-class opportunities for everybody in the region who wishes to participate in the sport.

Chair - Ashley Hutchinson- started in Triathlon in 2014 and got a DNF in first race! Could swim, bike and run but not all three at once apparently. Went on to represent GB age group in long course Aquabike in 2019. From Hot Chillis Triathlon club in Trowbridge.

Vice Chair and TE Rep - Jane Wild- assists Ashley, the Chair, and other members of the Committee in supporting clubs and members engaged with triathlon in the region. Represents the SW at the TE Council, which works alongside the Management Board to deliver the TE Strategic Plan regionally. As well as working for our sport both regionally and nationally, she is also involved locally, as a member of and coach for Cheltenham Tri Club, also as Vice-Chair of the Club Committee. Races regularly.

Treasurer - Rachel Hepworth- based in Bath and has been treasurer for two years.

Secretary - Alan Bayliss- Got into Triathlon in 2014, having already at least dabbled in all three sports. Currently Salisbury Tri Club chair, BTF Local Technical Official, Ironman and 3 time GB Age Group Middle Distance Team member.

Junior series coordinator - Melanie Cumberland- head coach at Junior Vale Tridents. Is a level 2 coach in Triathlon and Athletics and level 1 swim coach. Has been running the junior race series since 2014.

Technical coordinator - Lorraine Ferris- is the longest standing committee member, has been involved for over 20 years. Member of Royal Wootton Basset Hounds.

Communications officer - Vacant... please apply if you are interested.

Senior champs officer - Roger Wakeling- has been doing Triathlon since 1984 and has been on the committee since 1988. Age group GB athlete in 2008. From Royal Wootton Basset Hounds

Senior champs officer assistant - Scott Latham- Joined the committee at the AGM in October 2019 to assist Roger. From Frome Triathlon Club.

The committee are really keen to represent the clubs and members of the South West region well and are keen to hear from you or come and visit your club.
