How Do I Apply?

Trial Dates for 2024 / 2025 are provisionally 29th September 2024

Application is usually a 3 stage process.

Stage 1: Online application (not yet open).

Applications will open to all athletes in the South West region who will be racing as Youth and Junior athletes in 2025.  Applications will require athletes to evidence swimming and running standards over the following distances:

Ages 13 -15 (taken on 1st Sept 2024): 200m swim/1500m run

Ages 16-18 (taken on 1st Sept 2024): 400m swim/3000m run

British Triathlon uses a swim/run points table to indicate an athletes age and stage potential at this level of the Pathway. Levels will vary from region to region according to numbers and current Academy standards but a general minimum standard for invitation to the trials would be around 300 points. 

Stage 2: Academy Time Trials

The South West Regional Academy runs yearly swim and run performance trials for athletes interested in being part of the Academy set up the following year.  These trials usually take place in September shortly after the end of the British Super Series. 

Trials for the 2024/25 season will be held as follows:

Date: 

• Sunday 29 September (provisional date)

Time:

• Swim: 1300-1500. 
• Run: 1600-1730.

Location:

• Bath University 

Stage 3: Selection day / weekend

Is a more detailed look at the athletes’ abilities and behaviours across several elements relevant to the other pillars 5 pillars of the ADF as well as their physical and technical capabilities. Assessment will be made throughout the whole weekend and in so doing gives the coaches a broader and deeper understanding of each athlete allowing more objective selection decisions.
