Athlete Interview with Lee Harvey

I joined TTC in late 2018 having been ‘just’ a runner, but with the goal of becoming an Ironman in my 50th year (2020). I had just started cycling, but swimming was going to be a real challenge so I knew I needed to find a club. In a short space of time I went from barely being able to swim a lengthy properly, to completing 4 triathlons in 2019. I could not have done this had it not been for the great support I got from Torfaen Triathlon club where I have met some great like-minded people and some excellent coaches, and have built some new friendships. 2020 wasn’t meant to be my year, but by joining the Triathlon community, I know I have found something that is great for both my mental and physical health, and I am sure I’ll fulfil my Ironman goal next year and continue to enjoy the benefits of being part of such a great club, and the banter that keeps us all smiling.

Coach Interview Ray Morgan:

It sounds like a cliché but I got into coaching to give something back, sport (and triathlon specifically) has given me many opportunities and experiences that I may never of had otherwise and I want to help others have those same opportunities and experiences.

I am a coach with our partner clubs Torfaen Dolphins and Pont-Y-Pwl and District Runners as well as being a professional Strength and Conditioning Coach and I love working with people of all abilities from complete beginners to the sport all the way through to performance level athletes. As a coach it is so rewarding to be able to engage with and help people on their personal journey regardless of what their personal goal is.
