Race the Series 

The Welsh Super Series consists of six carefully selected events which showcase all that is good about the Sport of Triathlon

Stage 1 – TATA Steelman, Port Talbot. Sunday 17th May 2020

The TATA Steelman returns for 2020 and will open this year’s series. This sees a 1500m swim within the Eglwys Nunydd reservoir, before embarking on a 40km bike route out, consisting of 4 laps to Harbour Way, Port Talbot before returning to Eglwys Nunydd Reservoir to complete two laps of the lake. A Flat, fast course where PBs are the aim. This race will also determine the representative team for Tim Tri Cymru competing at the British Standard Championships at Leeds on 6/7th June 2020.

Stage 2 - SWYD Sprint Triathlon, Barry Island. Sunday 24th May 2020

A new event for the Welsh Super Series, but the 2019 National Sprint Championship, the Super Series heads to Barry Island and an enclosed sea Swim within Whatmore Bay before heading on 20km of closed roads around the South Wales town. Athletes will then run along the iconic promenade and finish under the Eastern Shelter.

Stage 3 – Slateman Sprint Triathlon, Llanberis. Saturday 13th June 2020

In its 10th year as an event, the Welsh Super Series returns to our friends at Always Aim High with the Slateman Sprint Triathlon. Held within the shadows of Snowdonia, the swim will commence in Llyn Padarn before a stunning bike course brings you back to Llanberis for what is a gruelling run. Part of a wider weekend of activities, Always Aim High also host the ETU Duathlon Qualifier at Slateman and the British Sprint and ITU Sprint Qualifier at Cardiff.

Stage 4 - Broadhaven (Standard) Triathlon. Saturday 11th July 2020

After featuring in the inaugural Welsh Super Series, the Broadhaven Triathlon is back by popular demand. A 1500m sea swim within Broadhaven bay sets the scene before embarking on 40km of rolling Pembrokeshire hills. As you return to Boradhaven, a stunning run awaits which takes in part of Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.

Stage 5 – AWE Gower Standard. Saturday 25th July 2020

Popular in 2019, it returns for 2020, the AWE Gower Standard sets itself from Port Eynon, where the 1500m swim will take place on the beach, before embarking on a 37km cycle around the Gower Peninsula, taking in the villages of Knelston, Reynoldston, Lethryd and Upper Killay before returning to Port Eynon. Once back at the beach, there’ll be two laps of a challenging run circuit to conquer before ending back in Port Eynon itself.

Stage 6 – Bala Sprint Triathlon, Llyn Tegid. Sunday 20th September 2020

2020 will see the final of the Welsh Super Series held at Llyn Tegid and the return of the Bala Sprint Triathlon. As part pf the wider Bala Big Bash weekend, the Bala Sprint will run on the same day as the popular Bala Standard, with the 750m swim within Llyn Tegid, before hitting 20km of closed roads along the A494 towards Dolgellau, before returning with a run along the banks of Llyn Tegid. The weekend will also include a number of Swim Wales open water swimming events as well as a range of children’s activities.
