A day of activity at Parc Bryn Bach

We look forward to welcoming you to Parc Bryn Bach on the 5th of September for a day of Triathlon activity.   

Hosted by the Welsh Triathlon team, and supported by volunteers from the triathlon community, we are delivering a day of activity at Parc Bryn Bach to showcase some of the entry-level, inclusive, programmes we facilitate for the people of Wales. 

This will be a great day with something for everyone to try, find out more information below. The following activities will take place across the day: 

Open Water Swim Sessions

When: Sunday 5th September 2021

Time: 09:00-10:30 (arrive for 08:45am) 

Ages: 18+ 

Since 2020 we have seen a 45% increase in people taking part in open water swimming across the UK and particularly in Wales. Many individuals taking part in open water swimming are seeing a benefit to their health and wellbeing.

Come and join qualified British Triathlon coaches for an open water swim session at Parc Bryn Bach.

The open water training sessions are designed to give triathletes and swimmers of all abilities the opportunity to maximise their time in open water by receiving expert coaching from qualified British Triathlon coaches. We welcome and encourage everyone to sign up for this activity no matter what their background, previous experience or ability.

The Novice session is aimed at first time and beginner open water swimmers who want to improve their relaxation and confidence in the open water whilst learning how to master the basic skills preparing them for the 2022 season.

The Intermediate Session is aimed at those triathletes or open water swimmers who feel confident in the water and swimming in groups but want to learn extra skills and techniques to give them the edge and a head start to the 2022 season.

As part of a wider delivery day, there will be an aquathlon taking place which will provide participants with an opportunity to experience multisport in the form of a swim and run.

What to bring: 

  • Wetsuit  
  • Swim hat 
  • Goggles  
  • Towel  
  • Tow float ( if you have one)
  • Tri-suit/ swimming costume
  • Any refreshments for after the activity

Tri-Active Cymru Session 

When: Sunday 5th September 2021

Time: 10am - 12pm

For: Ages 8 - 14

Welsh Triathlon will be delivering a Tri-Active Cymru (TAC) session at Parc Bryn Bach as part of a wider delivery day. Aimed at young beginners to multisport activity, our Tri-Active Cymru session will be the perfect opportunity for you to enjoy some fun activity all whilst learning about multisport and Triathlon.

The session will comprise of a Run/Cycle/Run. The run course will be on grass which will transition to the cycle course on the tarmac. The entire course will be fully closed off.

Welsh Triathlon has established Tri Active Cymru (TAC) to create further opportunities to provide localised, introductory multi-sport sessions. Tri-Active Cymru sessions provide the perfect balance between a fun, enjoyable activity with a learning experience alongside.

We encourage anyone who is new to multisport to enter and come along to take part in what is to be a great experience.

What to bring:

  • Appropriate footwear (such as a pair of trainers.)
  • Appropriate clothing for the weather
  • A drink and snack
  • Your Bike (if you don’t have access to a bike, we will have limited availability on the day)

GO TRI Aquathlon 

When: Sunday 5th September 2021

Time: 12:30pm (Registration from 11:30)

Ages: 15-18 and 18+

As part of a wider delivery day, this aquathlon will provide participants with an opportunity to experience multisport in the form of an aquathlon. An aquathlon is a multi-sport variation that will see participants taking part in a swim followed by a run. We will have two waves, one for participants aged 15-17 and another for those who are aged 18 and above.

GO TRI has been uniquely developed to ensure there is something for everyone, no matter your age, experience, or ability. We believe that every single person deserves a GO TRI experience. In making multi-sport activity accessible, the activity will see a 300m swim in the lake at Parc  Bryn Bach followed by a 2.5km run along the path that goes around the lake.

We welcome and encourage everyone to sign up for this activity no matter what their background, previous experience or ability. Don’t worry if the distances seem daunting, if you do find that you feel tired, just turn around and come back. We will also send you an activity information pack the week before with all the information you need to know on the day.

This activity is perfect for anyone looking to have a go at multi-sport activity with the chance to experience open water swimming. Whether it is your first time in open water or if you are using this activity as training towards another event, this activity presents the perfect opportunity to have a go at an aquathlon.

Don’t worry if you have never experienced open water swimming, our open water familiarisation session in the morning will present the perfect chance for you to get comfortable in the water with our qualified coaches, and what better way to put your skills to the test with this aquathlon?
