Welsh Triathlon partner ColegauCymru is delighted to announce the return of their FE Multisport Pembrey Event 2023.
Hosted at Pembrey Country Park on Wednesday 10 May 2023, this inclusive Duathlon offers an opportunity for all learners and staff in further education settings to participate in their first multisport event at a range of levels. Previous events have welcomed participants from ILS learners enjoying a group activity challenge for the first time through to learners and staff competing at elite level.
ColegauCymru Sport and Active Wellbeing Project Manager Rob Baynham said,
“FE Multisport represents a new direction for competitive sport and events in the FE sector, this format provides one of the few opportunities where learners and staff can compete alongside each other, both at a beginner and more competitive level.”
Head of Development for Welsh Triathlon Amy Jenner added,
“At Welsh Triathlon our purpose is to develop a triathlon community that enhances the well-being of current and future generations in Wales, and we’re delighted to be supporting the event once again. The duathlon offers a format for everyone and is a great example of how learners and staff can benefit from being active.”
The 2023 event will once again focus on providing a challenge that embraces the principles of the ColegauCymru Active Wellbeing Strategy, which looks to help Wales to become a healthier and more active nation. The event is designed to encourage participants to improve their wellbeing through engaging in physical and social activity with their peer while enjoying the benefits of some physical activity.
There are two entry options available with each race organised into waves of participants with similar abilities.
GO TRI Duathlon – 1km Run / 4km Bike / 1km Run
Full Duathlon – 5km Run / 20km Bike / 2.5km Run
The event is funded by Welsh Government as part of the ColegauCymru Active Wellbeing Project and connects with Sport Wales Active Wellbeing Project activity in the FE sector in Wales.
Please note the event is only open to staff and learners of FE colleges.
