In 2019 Welsh Triathlon took a team of 20 athletes ranging from 17 to 71 years old to represent Tîm Tri Cymru at the British Sprint Championships in Nottingham. After a successful pilot Tîm Tri Cymru has returned for 2022 but now competing both British Sprint and Standard Championships.
In 2021 Welsh Triathlon members had the chance to qualify to be a part of Tîm Tri Cymruby competing at either the Standard Distance Championships at the Porthcawl Standard Triathlon or The Sandman Sprint Triathlon or SWYD Sprint Triathlon, Barry Island. The highest placed Welsh Triathlon Member within each gender/category was then invited to attend, and a roll down list was devised for those who were unable to take their spot.
In what will bring a new dimension to the domestic National Championships, Welsh Triathlon will be sending a team to the British Championship events at Leeds on 12th June 2022 and Cardiff on 26th June 2022.
This weekend kicks off with the team proudly wearing their custom Tîm Tri Cymru Welsh Kit and turning Leeds Red for the day, competing in the British Standard Championships
Named in the team list is Rebecca Comins. Welsh Triathlon were saddened to hear of the tragic passing of Becky following a bike accident. Beckys family wanted her to be included in the list as she was so proud to have qualified for the team. Becky will be in our thoughts and with us all as we race together in Welsh red.
