Proposed NEW Triathlon Club in Handsworth

British Triathlon are supporting some new GO TRI Active sessions based at the Handsworth Wellbeing Centre in hope to set up a new novice triathlon club in the middle of Birmingham. 

We have been amazed at the enthusiasm and demand there is in and around Handsworth to start participating in triathlon. We have so far organised 8 weeks of triathlon sessions over the summer with the support from Mark Deakin (Head Coach), Tim Jones and Jeffrey de la Raga (assistant coaches). We’ve had 17 participants who joined in at the sessions and raring to start again. 

Eager to start, we have now set up another course of 11 weeks of GO TRI Active sessions to support the new triathlon club. Paul Griffths (Head Coach) and Adam Jones (assistant coach) are helping to coach the sessions with the first session held on the 8th October at Handsworth. 

We've been very lucky to partner up with Park Lives for the running sessions and BIG Birmingham Bikes for the cycling. Each week, our new members will have the choice to do any training session, as follows:
•    Monday - Coached Swimming by Paul and Adam
•    Thursday - learn to ride at the Laurel Community Centre - Bike hire available free
•    Saturday - Improving on cycling skills with the clubs very own Katherine O Connor with bike hire available for free
•    Sunday - Beginner and Intermediate Running (a choice of 2 groups) with Tonia Clark

We have a handful of participants ready to start the club and 2 who have booked onto the Level 1 coaching in triathlon course in February 2019. 

Such and amazing start to an exciting adventure, ready to develop the sport in the heart of Birmingham.
