The University of Birmingham Triathlon Team Celebrates New Members

The University of Birmingham Triathlon Team managed to get 110 people interested in joining thier club which was fantastic and the majority were completely new to Triathlon and had only ever competed in one or two of the disciplines.

Our Sports Fair is the prime time to sign up new members so having a really good stand is always essential to attract people to come over and have a chat.

We were lucky enough to borrow some banners and scrim from British Triathlon which really helped us look really professional and was definitely eye catching among the 100 other clubs at Sports Fair! 

Our set up at Birmingham caters from complete beginners to elite athletes due to our wide range of coaches from student-led sessions to Level-3 Triathlon coaches who oversee the performance squad. - Daniel Shpherd, Mens Captain 

The club had free taster sessions the week following Sports Fair and was brilliant to see so many people getting involved in the Club and wanting to try Triathlon. Encouraging people to take the first step in coming to the Taster session was key as at the sessions the coaches and members made them feel welcome and we received great feedback. The key message was that Triathlon should be fun and whatever your ability you should come along as there will be people from a wide variety of sporting backgrounds.
