West Midlands Junior Race Series events - 2018
There is currently an ongoing review of the Junior Triathlon Series by BTF in consultation with all regions. Even though provisional dates are given below, the West Midlands Region cannot confirm that a separate Aquathlon as well as a Triathlon Series will go ahead in 2018 until the review has been finalised. As soon as the outcome of the review is known, the details below will be updated.
We strongly encourage athletes to enter events as early as possible and to register their interest to be considered for the IRC Team. For details see below.
Changes to the series in 2018
You HAVE to be a member of Triathlon England to COUNT for the series and acquire ranking points.
Every young athlete can enter the series races, but only current Triathlon England members will count for the series.
Triathlon England members will AUTOMATICALLY be entred into the series. Therefore EntryCentral will NOT be used for series entry at this point. We advise to enter the individual series events as early as possible.
The series will be split for TS1-3, with a separate aquathlon series. Athletes can enter one or both series.
For the Youth age group, there will be only one series made up of triathlons and duathlons (no aquathlons).
British Triathlon are working on a central entry system for all regional series, so it is unlikely that we will be using Entry Central as in the past years. Further details on how to enter the series will be available in March.
Athletes wishing to enter the West Midlands Tristar and Youth Regional Series in 2018 must fulfil the following criteria:
- Be a member of Triathlon England throughout the 2018 series with West Midlands shown as the region on the race licence (same criteria as trying to qualify for the IRCs). All BTF members will be automatically entered into the series.
- Live in the West Midlands or be a member of a West Midlands TE (Triathlon England) affiliated club.
- Athletes may only represent one region in any one year and must represent the same region in Aquathlon and Triathlon/ Duathlon.
The following age groups apply:
Age on 31/12/18
A decision will be made shortly how many races will make-up each series (once all series races have been confirmed). But as in previous years, athletes will not have to compete in every race to count for the series.
Only BTF/ TE members will be awarded points and rankings for the series.
In the event of a race/s being cancelled or postponed a decision on scoring will be made by the West Midlands Region Committee.
Please note that events may be subject to change/cancellation due to circumstances outside of our control.
