Standard, Sprint & Junior Events
Come and join us at the Black Sheep Brewery Ripon Festival Weekend on 30th June and 1st July 2018. We have once again planned a packed weekend and will be providing camping on Friday and Saturday nights, children’s entertainment and fun for children on Saturday, a band, BBQ and disco for Saturday evening. We are aiming for an even bigger and better Expo with stalls of interest to all swimmers, cyclists and runners.
The Standard Distance Triathlon on Saturday 30th June starts at the unusually civilised hour of 1pm. There will also be a children’s race on Saturday morning for youngsters,
The Sprint Distance takes place on Sunday 1st July at 9am, followed by the Junior Triathlon races (part of the Yorkshire Series) later in the day. For cyclists in the family, the annual Ripon Sportive starts from the same location early Sunday morning.
All events start and finish in the beautiful grounds of Ripon Racecourse – known as ‘the garden racecourse’.
Following feedback from last year, we have returned to our previous catering company Indulge of Harrogate and they will be providing good food at modest prices for both campers and visitors on the day. We offer a Friday Night Supper, which this year will be accompanied by a Q&A with Triathlon Celebrities such as GB Elite Gordon Benson, Suzie Richards, Martin Brunt from 220 Triathlon Magazine as well as NYP’s very own Julian Norton (of Yorkshire Vet fame). Saturday sees our usual fabulous BBQ Party with band. (meals can be booked online, together with camping requirements at the TriHard website).
The new cycle course has now been released as we return to both a safer and more scenic route. (see youtube video – details below) Other exciting news if that the Ripon Triathlon Olympic event has been selected to host the inaugural Yorkshire Club Inter-Club Championships with a prize for the winning Club. A special Club Zone area will be provided for the Clubs and we anticipate a hotly contended race.
The main sponsor for the weekend is The Black Sheep Brewery, and the weekend is hosted by NYP Tri Club. The Standard Distance and Sprint Triathlons will be managed by TriHard, and the Junior Triathlons by NYP Tristars.
There truly is something for everyone.
