Broadening Talent Identification in Yorkshire
The Yorkshire Talent Squad was a new initiative for the 2017/18 season, created to broaden Talent Identification within the region. In 2019/20 it will continue under a similar structure.
The Talent Squad is a pre-cursor to the Regional Academy, which is the first step of the British Triathlon Performance Pathway. The Yorkshire Triathlon Academy and the Yorkshire Talent Squad both work to the philosophy and principles of the British Triathlon Athlete Development Framework
Entry to the squad is selective and trials for 2019/202 will be run on September 21st 2019 <full details to follow> for those aged between 13 & 17 in the following season. The trials for the Talent Squad are run in conjunction with the Regional Academy and require athletes to perform at a level within 10% of the appropriate age and gender related times as set by the Academy itself. Please refer to the main Academy web page for the details of the application process and date of the trials for 2019/20
The role of any athlete within the Squad is to demonstrate not just their performance, but a rounded, self aware, focussed, mature and driven attitude to Triathlon and their own personal development.
Athletes are expected to enter into the Yorkshire Junior Triathlon Series as a minimum level of competitive racing and their performance in that series will be considered as part of any re-application for the following season.
Currently, the squad trains every Wednesday evening from 6:30pm to 8pm at The Brownlee Centre in Leeds. As an unfunded squad, there is an athlete subscription to cover all coached sessions. On an invitational basis there will be opportunities for athletes to attend some of the Regional Academy sessions/camps. Additional sessions to enhance training will include open water swimming, running & group rides.
Should you have any questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and one of the coaching team will get back to you.
