Born and raised in Derby, Hugo has been racing internationally for Great Britain since 2022, with 2024 marking his first inclusion on the World Class Programme.
That debut season saw him finish 13th in the World Triathlon Duathlon Championship in his first outing representing Great Britain, and 16th in his first British Sprint Championships. He then ended the year by topping the podium in Europe Triathlon Cup Ceuta
His 2023 campaign got underway with another duathlon championships, this time under the Europe Triathlon banner in Venice-Caorle where he secured eighth. In his first World Triathlon Cup in July 2023, Hugo claimed tenth place as he took another step up in his racing experience. That season also saw him earn another podium at Europe Triathlon Cup Wels (bronze) before ending the season in Miyazaki with gold at the World Triathlon Cup event there.
After competing in cross country since the age of 14, including representing England and Great Britain, Hugo made the move to triathlon in 2021 following the Covid-19 pandemic but still enjoys competing in cross country races. It is this cross country background and time spent road and track running that has provided Hugo with a base for triathlon, having also enjoyed swimming and cycling as training sports.
He’s a graduate of Harvard University in America with a degree in Environmental Science and Public Policy with a secondary major in Government. Hugo graduated in 2021and is now UK-based as he focusses on training in swim, bike, run.
As well as racing in the British Triathlon Super Series, Hugo has raced for Valence Triathlon at the French Grand Prix.
