The triathlon events season is picking up pace and we’ve selected some of the many events taking place across April and May for you to sign up to – what are you waiting for?
We’ve chosen a mix of British Triathlon age-group qualifiers or national championships. To qualify for the Age-Group Team or receive a medal at a championship race you must be a home nation member. While you can still enter if you’re not a member, you won’t be eligible to represent the Age-Group Team or claim your championship medal. Click here to become a member.
April
Northumberland Duathlon, Morpeth, England, 7 April
The Northumberland Duathlon at Druridge Bay is our first focus event. Taking place on 7 April, the Standard Distance Duathlon doubles up as a GB Age-Group Team 2025 World Standard Distance Duathlon Championships Qualifier. Triathletes will complete an 11.5km run followed by a 38km bike leg in the county park and along the coastline before completing a 5.75km run to the finish line. Wanting a shorter race? Try the sprint distance duathlon, also taking place that day and consisting of two 5.75km runs either side of a 19km bike.
Harlech Duathlon and Triathlon, Harlech, Wales, 14 April
We head to Wales a week later for the Welsh Duathlon Championships. The venue is the iconic Harlech Castle, where you’ll race over a 5km run and a 21.5km bike, ending the race with a 2.2km run. To be in with the chance of becoming Welsh Duathlon Champion you must be a Welsh Triathlon member and enter the event the weekend before. Scottish National Schools Aquathlon Championships, Glenrothes, Scotland, 19 April
It’s over to the next generation on 19 April in Scotland as the Scottish Schools Championships take place. This aquathlon is open to children in years S1-S6 and gives them the chance to experience competitive racing across both individual and mixed team relays. Please speak to your child’s schoolteacher regarding Triathlon Scotland Schools Championships and future race entries.
ATW Mallory Park Duathlon, Leicester, England, 21 April
Mallory Park plays host to our final event for April on Sunday 21 with a Sprint Distance Duathlon. The race uses the famous Mallory Park race track and doubles up as a GB Age-Group Team 2025 World Sprint Duathlon Qualifier. The event consists of a 5km run, 20km bike and 2.5km run. If you’re looking for a different challenge the event also offers a shorter Super Sprint Distance Duathlon format and a Standard Distance Duathlon Format.

St Neots Triathlon Series - Race One, St Neots, England, 5 May
The action doesn’t stop in May as on Sunday 5, St Neots hosts an Age-Group Team World Aquabike Championships Qualifier. The race forms race one of the three-part race series, though you only need to compete on 5 May to qualify for the team. Taking place around the River Ouse, the two-lap swim covers 1500m before a 46km bike ride takes you through picturesque countryside.
Llanelli Para Tri, Lanelli, Wales, 11-12 May
The British Triathlon Super Series second round is being held on 11 May in Llanelli. The race day consists of Youth, Junior, Senior and para triathlon action as we offer competitive domestic racing opportunities. Entries are open for the para triathlon event and include an unclassified category allowing those without an official para triathlon classification to take part still and experience the sport.
Scottish National Youth Triathlon Championships, Glasgow, Scotland, 18 May
Glasgow then plays host to the National Youth Triathlon Championships, open to Scottish triathletes aged between 8-16 years old on 18 May. Taking place at Bellahouston Park, the event is open to triathletes of all abilities and offers a fantastic way to get children and young people into the sport. Race distances vary across the age groups, with a pool-based swim section, followed by a bike leg on closed roads and the run in Bellahouston Park itself. There’s also a race for adults providing something for everyone to get involved in.

Southport Duathlon and Triathlon, Southport, England, 19 May
The next day Southport hosts its Duathlon and Triathlon, with the sprint triathlon being an Age Group Team World Sprint Triathlon Championships qualifying race. One of the largest events in the North West of England, it is being held at Waterside Lodge on Southport Marine Lake. Athletes in the sprint triathlon will complete a 750m lake swim ahead of a 20km bike leg on closed roads. The 5km run takes place on tarmac roads around the Marine Lake. For those looking for a different challenge, the event hosts a standard distance triathlon and, for the first time, is also hosting sprint and standard distance duathlons.
Darley Moor May Sprint Duathlon, Ashbourne, England, 26 May
On May 26, Darley Moor hosts an Age Group Team World Sprint Duathlon Championships Qualifier. The first of two runs takes place on the outer perimeter of the track and covers 4.8km before the race heads onto the track for an 18.3km bike leg. The final run is back on the perimeter of the track and is 2.4km.
SWYD Sprint Tri, Barry Island, Wales, 26 May
We’re looking at European races at the end of the month as an Age Group-Team European Sprint Triathlon Championship Qualifier takes place at Sleep When Your Dead Triathlon on 26 May. You’ll start off with a 750m sea swim before the bike leg takes you on close roads for 20km. You then head back out for 5km on the run to finish your race. For Welsh Triathlon members this event doubles up as the Welsh Sprint Triathlon Championships offering the chance to become national champion as well as earning your place on the start line at the European Championships in 2025.
