Welsh Olympian and Paratriathlete kick off the countdown to WTPS Swansea

Friday 3 May marks 50 days until the world’s best paratriathletes come to South Wales for World Triathlon Para Series Swansea. The event takes place on Saturday 22 June, with this year seeing the biggest chances to take part alongside an inclusive spectator experience

To start the countdown, Welsh Olympian Helen Jenkins and Welsh paratriathlete Darren Williams joined local school children at Penlan Leisure Centre to swim, bike and run.

Over 100 children gathered at Penlan Leisure Centre to mark this milestone, taking to the pool, bikes and scooters, and getting the feeling for crossing the finish line on a day packed with swim, bike, run activity.

Building on this, the event in June will include timed and non-timed swim and run opportunities for all children aged 8 to14 years old, and the chance for anyone aged 15+ with a physical or intellectual impairment to give swim, bike, run a go.

The participation options will kickstart a day of activity at Swansea’s Prince of Wales Docks that will culminate in some of the world’s best paratriathletes competing just a matter of months ahead of competing at this summer’s Paralympic Games in Paris.

A full spectator experience will be on offer on top of the racing, with the Marina Market confirmed at the event site, as well as food, drink and entertainment.
