Jasmine Flatters has been made a MBE in the New Year’s Honours list. The award comes in recognition of thirty years service to the sport of triathlon.

Starting out as a volunteer marshal in the 1980’s Jasmine has seen the sport grow and develop. In fact, she’s been a huge part of its growth, particularly through her roles on the BTA and ETU boards.

Jasmine has acted in various team management roles as well as being particularly well known as a technical official for ITU and ETU and a former Chair of the BTF Technical Committee.

One of her absolute highlights was her role with LOCOG working directly on the delivery of the hugely successful London 2012 Olympic Games. She received a Gold Pin from the BTF in 2010 in recognition of her many and significant roles, and BTF is delighted to congratulate her on being made a MBE.

Jasmine said: "I am so thrilled to receive this wonderful accolade. After about 30 years volunteering in various guises at different sporting events, it is indeed very satisfying to be recognised in this way. Especially so as volunteering in itself is hugely rewarding."

She added: "I have particularly enjoyed being involved in triathlon. I have seen the sport grow so much over the years and hope I have played some small part in that. From Age-Group team management and development to serving on the various boards, being involved in many events, as technical official or event organiser, it has been a great pleasure to be involved in this sport with its amazing people. This honour really is the icing on the cake!"
