Three days of competition at the 2016 ETU Triathlon European Championships kicked off on Friday with the sprint distance event. In now familiar style, the large Great Britain Age-Group Tam was highly competitive, collecting a significant haul of gold, silver and bronze.
For the second consecutive year, the fastest GB Age-Group athlete at the European Championships was James Phillips. Second fastest overall, James finished 51 seconds behind Norway’s Morten Hansen. As Morten was also in the same 20-24 category, that meant another European Championship silver for the British Age-Group Champion.
Elizabeth Bullivant (35-39) took the honours as the fastest British female age-grouper in the ETU Sprint Triathlon European Championships. Third fastest overall, Elizabeth took the gold medal in her category to finally win the European title after four previous podium finishes of either silver or bronze at this championship. A long-time member of the GB Age-Group Team, that represents her eighth international medal in total, an impressive display of consistency and a worthy reward for her dedication.
