The British Triathlon U20's Festival showcased the best of domestic and European talent on a day of sunshine and showers at the National Water Sports Centre on Friday, 22 August. Find out how the South East IRC team got on!

Twelve of the region’s best young triathletes made the journey to the National Water Sports Centre, Nottingham, the venue for the 2014 Inter Regional Championships on 22 August.

With water temperatures reported to be under 16C in places and weather conditions changing by the minute, the races were a strong test for all participants competing in the UK’s highest level event of the season for 11-14 year olds.

Tristar 2 girls started the racing with Katie Painter first in for the region in 25th place followed by twin sister Sophie close behind in 29th.  Third in for the region was Hollie Brackstone in 36th position.

Tristar 2 boys competed very strongly.  Ethan Fincham came home 6th with Joseph Martin only 9 seconds behind in 9th.  Leo Standen-Payne completed the team’s work crossing in 21st.

Anya Tamplin, Lizzie Clarke and Evie Clarke representing Tristar 3 girls came home in 13th, 23rd and 31st respectively.

Noah Canby was first to finish for Tristar 3 boys in 13th.  Samuel Painter edged out Flynn Hope by 3 seconds finishing one place ahead in 22nd position.

Having split form South Central and competing as a smaller region for the first time, the South East acquitted themselves well finishing 9th overall amongst the twelve UK regions one place ahead of their neighbours.
