Looking to 2015

Published:

People may view 2015 as a year in limbo. The glow of 2012 has faded somewhat and with Rio 2016 still a year in the future, what is there to get excited about?

In fact, contrary to belief, 2015 has much in store. And a significant part will be taking place right here on home soil.

London’s Hyde Park will once again come to life in May as it prepares to host the fifth leg of the prestigious ITU World Triathlon Series. The international elite will go head-to-head with our British stars whilst the mass participation race is set to welcome a host of newcomers to the sport.

Fast forward just over a month and the curtain opens on Geneva for the ETU Sprint and Standard Triathlon European Championships for three days of age-group, elite, junior and paratriathlon action in the Swiss city. European action continues on home shores with Challenge Weymouth UK. The 2015 event will play host to the 2015 ETU European Long Distance Triathlon Championships in September, which is sure to be a key date on our Great Britain Age-Group Team Calendar.

Another date for the diary will be the first weekend in August for the Rio de Janeiro ITU World Olympic Qualification and Paratriathlon Event, where the cream of the crop will battle it out at the 2016 Olympic venue. Copacabana beach will provide the iconic backdrop for a taste of what’s to come the following year.
The ITU World Triathlon Grand Final in Chicago will undoubtedly be another September spectacle of elite and age-group talent that the season will be gearing towards. The action-packed affair will see who will take the coveted title of 2015 World Champions.

Nestled in amongst the schedule are numerous championships and domestic races – plenty to quench the thirst of any avid triathlon fan. We can’t wait for 2015 and we know you can’t either.
