British Paratriathletes head for Detroit

Published:

Five Great Britain paratriathletes will compete at the Detroit ITU World Paratriathlon Event this Sunday, 16 August. With just one more round of the Event series remaining before the ITU World Championships, this is one of the final opportunities to gain valuable ranking points.

Andy Lewis follows on from his medal winning performance at the Rio Test Event earlier this month by racing this weekend. Derby’s ex international footballer, Ryan Taylor, joins him in the PT2 event.

George Peasgood and Stefan Hoggan line up in the men’s PT4 event and Clare Cunningham goes in the women’s PT4.

The Paralympic category races this weekend have attracted relatively large fields as the sport continues to grow and develop ahead of its debut in Rio next September.

Athletes racing in the Paratriathlon Event series gain points that grant them access to the major championships, including the forthcoming ITU Paratriathlon World Championships in Chicago next month.
