Kate Curran won the female Youth category after taking part in six races with four podium performances including victories in the British Youth Duathlon Championships in March and the Youth event at the British Triathlon Inter Regional Championships.

 

Kate has had a great season after winning her second successive medal for the GE Great Britain Team in the women’s European Youth Team Relay event two weeks ago in Aguilas, Spain. 

 

Commenting after the win, Kate said: “it's great to win the title this year, it's been such a close Series and I am thrilled that all my hard work has paid off. Having finished 5th overall last year, I was determined to get on the podium in 2012, so to have achieved that is a fantastic feeling." 

 

Sian Rainsley and Megan McDonald finished in second and third place respectively with both athletes never finishing outside the top four in their British Triathlon Youth Super Series events this year. 

 

Miles Burton delivered his second successive title in the male Youth category, winning three of the four British Triathlon Youth Super Series races he competed in this season. Miles was delighted with the victory adding: “To win the British Triathlon Youth Super Series is a great end to the season, but to win it two years in a row shows that my training and preparation has once again delivered for me. Next season, I really want to continue to develop as an athlete and make sure that I am competing for titles in all the races that I compete in.”

 

Greg Chambers who was part of the North East’s winning team at the British Triathlon Inter Regional Championships finished in second place and Deri Stewart finished in third.
 

Sophie Coldwell who won the 2011 British Triathlon Youth Super Series successfully moved up an age category by adding the British Triathlon Junior Super Series title in 2012.

 

Sophie’s victory is testament to her consistency having won three of her five races alongside two second placed finishers. Talking after the win Sophie commented: “'I have really enjoyed competing in the Super Series this year and winning was an added bonus; Blenheim was a real highlight for me and standing alongside Jodie Stimpson on the podium was fantastic. 

 

“With the final race being the IRC's it was a great weekend with my home region of East Midlands going one better than last year coming second.  I am now training towards the World Championships in Auckland in October and looking forward to 2013.'

 

Sophia Saller finished in second place having finished on the podium in each of her races this season, and Sarah Hodgson came third having won the Milton Keynes Aquathlon.

 

Beau Smith became the British Triathlon Junior Super Series champion, after finishing in the top five of each race in which he competed this year including two victories and a second place finish in the Open Junior event at Hetton Lyons Country Park. 

 

The new champion commented: “I’ve been a lot more consistent this year and to win is a good reflection on all the hard work over the season and all the winter training before the Series got underway. I am really pleased to be champion in my final year as a junior before I move up to senior level next year.”

 

Callum Johnson finished in second place and Fergus Roberts in third place, with each athlete having a British Triathlon Junior Super Series victory to their name this season.
