Welsh National Championships 2024

Welsh Triathlon are looking forward to working with our incredible event organisers across Wales to see the delivery of a full National Championship calendar for the 2024 season. Events will be spread across the whole of Wales, enabling everyone within our wider triathlon community to engage in a National Championship event.

The National Championship will continue in its traditional format for 2024, with all National Championships being held as stand-alone events. It will simply be winner takes all on the day at each of the events, and with them, the potential to compete for Tim Tri Cymru at the 2025 British Championships. There is no need to pre-register your intention to compete for a National Championship award. All you need to do is enter your event of choice and make sure you’re a Welsh Triathlon Member.

The qualifying events for Tim Tri Cymru 2025 will be:

SWYD Barry Sprint

Broadhaven Standard

All current, in date, Welsh Triathlon members will automatically be considered for Welsh Triathlon National Championship races.  However, to be automatically please note the following:

  1. The closing date for entry is midnight the Sunday before the National Championships you wish to compete in, irrespective of the event closing date.
  2. When entering you must input your full details ensuring they match your Welsh Triathlon membership profile i.e. correct first name, full name, date of birth and membership number.
  3. If you enter the event before the closing date and then become a member you must inform Welsh Triathlon before the National Championship closing date (serial 1) by contacting events@welshtriathlon.org

Failure to apply to the serials above will exclude you from that National Champs.

How are the Welsh national championships chosen?

Welsh Triathlon National Championship events are chosen from Events organisers that submit a tender for hosting a major event.

We then work with British Triathlon and our Welsh Technical Committee to make sure events are suitable to host ,  and plan events alongside the major events calendar across all 3 home nations including our Welsh Triathlon Super Series to avoid any event clashes (where we can)  We also have to plan that we don’t have back to back weekend racing,  and try as best we can to spread the events across Wales but this really does depend on which event organiser have submitted to host a Major event.
