GO TRI Active sessions to be piloted for new swim, bike, run participants

Published:

Triathlon England have teamed up with event organiser UK Triathlon to create a new GO TRI pilot to support participants in training for their first triathlon event and gain confidence ahead of bigger events.

The pilot programme, being held for the first time this year, will include GO TRI Active sessions delivered ahead of specific events organised by UK Triathlon in 2022. The sessions have been designed to provide beginners with the skills, experience and confidence they need to complete their first triathlon, before helping to transition beginners into longer event distances or larger event settings.

The six pilot events in 2022 will be held ahead of the following events with more information available here:

Stratford Triathlon, Sunday 8 May

Cheshire Triathlon, Sunday 22 May

Henley Triathlon, Sunday 10 July

York Triathlon, Sunday 31 July

North West Triathlon, Sunday 18 September

Warwickshire Triathlon, Sunday 2 October

The pilot will include at least one GO TRI Active session in advance of each of the above events, which will all feature a GO TRI Wave aimed at all abilities and fitness levels, and are perfect for beginners who want to complete their first triathlon in a fun, friendly and supportive environment.

The GO TRI Active sessions will be led by a British Triathlon Level 2 qualified coach, and will cover swim, bike, run and transition skills, as well as sharing useful event tips.

Announcing the six pilot events, Jenny Vincent, Head of Participation at Triathlon England, said: “GO TRI activity is perfect for beginners wanting to get involved in swim, bike, run for the very first time, and we’re really excited to be working with UK Triathlon in piloting the new GO TRI Active sessions which are a fantastic opportunity for anyone wanting to get involved in their first triathlon.

“As part of The Big Active strategy, Triathlon England are aiming to make swim, bike, run even more inclusive and accessible, and this collaboration with UK Triathlon will help support new participants to begin their swim, bike and run journey.”

Keith Hancock, Race Director at UK Triathlon, said: “By working alongside Triathlon England our aim is to bring GO TRI to the masses in a fun and exciting way. Our objective at UK Triathlon is for every person to enjoy their GO TRI experience in a non-competitive way, everyone who signs up will be offered support during every step of their swim, bike, run journey.”
