SAFEGUARDING AND WELFARE STRATEGY

SAFEGUARDING AND WELFARE ROLES

British Triathlon considers the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and adults at risk as central to its values. As a governing body we accept our responsibility for providing guidance and support for the swim, bike, run community to ensure that the sport is enjoyable and safe. Everyone in swim, bike, run has a responsibility for safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk.

If you have concerns for the welfare or safety of a child, young person or adult at risk or some raises a concern with you, report these immediately.

To report a concern contact;

British Triathlon Lead Safeguarding Officer

07793 647578 / 01509 837137

concern@britishtriathlon.org

or

Triathlon England Lead Safeguarding Officer

07384 214726 / 01509 837137

concern@britishtriathlon.org

It's important to remember that the welfare of a child, young person or adult at risk is paramount, it's not up to you to decide whether or not a child or young person has been abused, but to report concerns appropriately.

If you think a child or young person is in immediate danger or requires medical attention, you should call the emergency services on 999.

You can also ring the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000 or by emailing help@nspcc.org.uk. Following reporting the matter to the emergency services or NSPCC you must inform British Triathlon.

If you have a non-safeguarding concern or complaint, please review the British Triathlon Complaints Policy to ensure this is addressed in the most effective manner.
