Introducing the #ThisGirlCan Coach Number 2

Published:

Earlier this month we introduced you to the first of our female coaches to receive their Level 1 Triathlon Coaching 50% bursary. Read on for our second installment.

Today we're introducing you to the second coach who received our funding, Catherine Davies of Belvoir Tri Club (www.belvoirtriclub.co.uk)

Catherine, what was your involvement in triathlon before you decided to become a coach?

I only started last season, the swimming and open water particularly appealed to me and I wanted to coach to help others in these areas.

What made you want to become a coach?

My own experiences of our coaches. They've been so helpful and inspiring that I wanted to help too

What will you take away from the Level 1 coaching course?

The extra hints and tips we received from the tutors were so helpful and insightful - that is something 'extra' which you can't get from a book!

How have you found it moving from the classroom out into a real coaching environment at your club?

Really exciting and interesting. The course prepared me well so it hasn't felt hugely different.

Where will you go from here?

I really want to go on and do Level 2 now.

What advice would you give to any female triathlete interested in taking up triathlon?

Do it! Women have so much to offer and share with others. Don't be afraid about speed etc.

Some great advise, thank you Catherine and we wish you well in your coaching career.
