Open Water Training Day - Newark 12 July 2014

Whether you’re training for your first Open Water event or you just want to gain some new Open Water skills, then this day will be perfect for you!

Introduction

Triathlon England in the East Midlands are pleased to announce the delivery of an Open Water Swimming Training day in partnership with Swim Smooth. The training day is designed to give triathletes and swimmers of all abilities the opportunity to maximise their time in open water by receiving expert coaching from world renowned Swim Smooth Accredited Coaches.

The training day consists of two session. The Novice session is aimed at first time open water swimmers who want to improve their relaxation and confidence in the open water whilst learning how to master the essential skills of sighting and drafting. The Intermediate Session is aimed at those triathletes or open water swimmers who feel confident in the water and swimming in groups but want to learn the extra skills and techniques to give them the edge.

Each session will last approximately 2 hours and include a theory presentation followed by around 45 - 60 minutes coaching in the water. 

When and Where?

The East Midlands Open Water Day will take place at Girton Sailing Club, Newark on 12 July 14 and will be hosted by Lincoln Triathlon Club. 

How Much?

£15 per person, per session for 2 hours expert coaching from Swim Smooth Certified Coaches.

Am I an Novice or an Intermediate?

This is always a tricky question but here is a rough guide to help you decide,

Novice

If this is your first time in open water and you want to learn the essential skills of sighting and drafting or you feel nervous and struggle to relax in the open water you may benefit from this session.

Intermediate

If  you feel confident in the open water and want to learn some advanced techniques to improve your open water swim this session will be perfect for you. 

What if I Do Not Have a wesuit?

Don't panic you can borrow one of ours, you'll be asked if you'd like to borrow one when you book, if you click yes you will then be asked you height and weight (Sorry we know it's rude to ask!) so we can size you for a suit.

How Do I Book a Session?

Places are limited to 30 swimmers per session (60 per day) so be quick to avoid disappointment.  To book a session click here.
