What is Happening in the East Midlands?

Published:

The winter is well and truly behind us after an Easter weekend of sunshine and early season racing. So what is happening in the East Midlands over the next month?

This weekend sees the start of the East Midlands Junior Series at the RAF Scampton Duathlon on Saturday 11 April put on by Lincoln Tri Club.  This also includes an adult event. Good luck to all those entering their first first race of the season.

On Sunday 12 April there is the 1485 No Frills Duathlon at Bosworth Water over the sprint distance put on by 1485 Tri Club.  There are already nearly 100 registered to race and there are 3 days left to get your entry in.  The race starts at a socialable time of 10am and at only a cost of £12 to Triathlon England members it is a must do race.

Also on 12 April is the Desford Sprint Triathlon run by Race Time Events at Bosworth Academy.  This popular event is already full with registration closed.

On 18 April Just Racing events team are putting on a junior race (various distances for all age groups) which is then followed on 19 April with an adults sprint triathlon over 400m, 20km bike and 5km run.  Both of these are being run from Dutson School in Northampton. Last entries for both of these races are being accepted up to14 April 15.

At Southwell Leisure Centre, Nottingham on 19 April there is a sprint distance triathlon with a 400m swim, 17.6km bike and a 5km run.  This event is run by One Step Beyond with entries still being accepted up to 15 April 15.

The final weekend 25/26 April is the GoTri100 weekend which aims to put on 36 GO TRI Events nationally with a 1000 new participants to multisport.  In the East Midlands there are 5 events on this weekend with all the details here. Let your new club members know about this weekend as it is designed to give them a gentle start to multisport.

That is it for this month.  Next month will see many more races as the season builds up momentum with the first of the open water events getting under way.  All of the East Midlands races can be found on the race calendar.
