Newham CID appeal after Triathlon equipment stolen

Detectives in Newham are investigating the theft of two vans containing hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of specialist Triathlon equipment

The two white Ford vans were stolen from the car park of a Travelodge hotel car park in Dockside Road, E16 in the early hours of Monday 17 February, following an exhibition at the Excel Centre.

The equipment which belongs to Somerset-based Tri UK is worth approximately £300,000 and includes 52 high value specialist triathlon bikes made by manufacturers Giant, Cervelo, Cannondale, Scott, Neil Pryde and Wilier, bike accessories and mens and ladies TYR wetsuits.

Detective Sergeant Tony Gambles, from Newham CID, said: "The white Ford vans' registration numbers were DY12 FJF and DV61 DJE. Both vans had trackers fitted but these were disconnected on the A13 shortly after the theft.

"Witnesses or anyone with information about this theft should call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

"We understand that the owner of the equipment has offered a reward of up to £100,000 for information resulting in the safe recovery of the property and the successful prosecution of those responsible for the theft."
