The Performance Assessment Weekend takes place as the first event in the British Triathlon Youth & Junior Super Series.
All athletes with aspirations to race in the British Triathlon Youth & Junior Super Series are required to attend this weekend, with the results from the weekend setting the order of entry for the initial races. The assessments include a swim time-trial on the Saturday at the University of Nottingham followed by a combined, timed bike-run on the Sunday at Prestwold Hall Circuit.
Some senior athletes will also need to attend the Performance Assessments in order to complete for starts in Tier 1 races.
Youth and Juniors athletes – If you have not competed in a Performance Assessment before AND are not a member of a regional academy, you will need to attend an Academy-led bike session within your region. Please contact your relevant Regional Academy Lead for more information about your region.
PA Swim Attire – athletes may swim in the trisuit they will race in on the Sunday (bike/run) or if that suit is ill fitting they may wear ‘standard’ swim wear NOT a Speedo Fastskin or Arena Powerskin or similar swim specific race suit. There will be a kit check at registration prior to swimming.
Race Categories
As of January 2023, the British Triathlon Transgender Policy came into effect. The policy outlines that athletes will compete within either the Female or Open category. The Female category refers to the female sex, i.e., those born female. The Open category refers to everyone else, i.e., men and those born male, as well as transgender and nonbinary athletes.
