This is an open water event opportunity at a tried and tested closed road venue. Our TriStars event was awarded North East Children's Triathlon of the year in 2018. The TriStar & Youth triathlons will embrace the British Triathlon Talent The Programme focus on the swim discipline with a slight increase in race distance for TS2, TS3 and Youth athletes in the fresh water lake compared to the 2019 event, a closed road tarmac bike loop and gravel trail run around the lake to finish.
We anticipate a provisional registration time of 10:30am with the first race at approximately 12:30pm. This will be confirmed closer to the race date but this event will definitely not be an early start
This race series will follow the gear restriction rules for T2, T3 and Youth athletes. Please refer to the guidance on British Triathlon web pages to ensure the bike is compliant with all aspects of these rules for draft legal race situations.
Bike roll outs will be conducted prior to entering transition so please familiarise yourself with the appropriate distances and ensure your bike is fit for purpose.
TriStar 1 will not require any gear restrictions for this race.
The event lends itself to a great spectator and supporter experience with banked grassed areas for families to enjoy the day. Catering will be on site to enhance your day's racing and spectating with almost all of the race routes visible from the spectator area so no need to move from your picnic spot. The latest covid guidance will be published within the race pack information.
The lake is a shallow, fresh water enclosure with no fast moving undercurrents so super safe for TriStars to swim in, easy access from the gentle sloping beach and never too far from the shore! The smooth tarmac bike course is frequently used for cycle races so well equipped to cater for this type of racing on a short lap circuit and more opportunities to cheer your athlete along. The run course around the lake is flat compacted gravel and visible all the way around so adding to the excitement of a close race finish: the finish shute being close to the spectator area. The transition enclosure will be barriered and managed at all times and athlete ID required to enter or exit this space. The race chip timing system should allow for instant result access to your athletes race times, position and split times included. Event t-shirt and finishers medal for all athletes and prizes for the first three in each age category (male and female).
Please note that in the event that restrictions prohibit an awards presentation, prizes will be forwarded at a later date.
