Despite only making his paratriathlon debut in 2023, Henry Urand has enjoyed a meteoric rise to qualify for the Men’s PTS3 race in Paris. He earned his selection with six podium finishes in his nine races.
He started the 2024 season with a silver medal at World Triathlon Para Series Devonport back in March. That success was followed up with another second place finish, this time at World Triathlon Para Cup Yenisehir. His final outing before this Summer’s Games came in Montreal where he won his first World Triathlon Para Series gold medal.
Henry Urand has already made his mark on the international stage in paratriathlon in his debut season, winning gold at World Triathlon Cup Taranto. Prior to that he was an accomplished para cyclist and was a part of British Cycling’s Para-Cycling Development Programme.

Henry began cycling after picking up a knee injury after playing football to aid his recovery. He began enjoying the sport and in 2019 took part in para-classification and power testing in Manchester. He attended another session and joined the development programme in 2020. After three years he made the switch to paratriathlon and enjoyed a successful debut season.
At the start of the 2023 season he finished sixth in his debut race at World Triathlon Para Cup Besancon before an eighth place finish at World Triathlon Para Series Swansea. He was then crowned British Champion and won his first international paratriathlon medal by coming second at World Triathlon Para Cup Alhandra. In the middle of October he finished fourth at World Triathlon Para Cup Malaga but just a week later he won his first international event, taking gold at World Triathlon Para Cup Taranto.
