The World Heritage site of Blenheim Palace will provide an iconic setting for the best of British triathlon on Sunday

The Bloodwise Blenheim Triathlon has been one of the iconic races of the British triathlon season for well over a decade. With a transition area in the stunning courtyard of the home to the 12th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough, few races in the world can match it for stunning surrounds.

This year the Elite event on Sunday morning will also carry the status of British Elite Sprint Triathlon Championship, while also offering Youth athletes the opportunity to qualify for their ETU Championship, which will be held in Panevezys, Lithuania in July.

Second and third place respectively at Blenheim last year, Sophie Coldwell and Hannah Kitchen return to race again on Sunday. Both are in good form, with Coldwell have won the ETU European Cup race in Quarteira, before going on to a breakthrough fourth place in the World Triathlon Series event in Yokohama. Kitchen will arrive in Blenheim fresh from a second Gold medal at the ETU Aquathlon European Championships in Bratislava last weekend.

The men’s Elite race looks set to be a very hotly contested affair. The start list includes the likes of David Bishop, Liam Lloyd, Jimmy Kershaw, Calum Johnson and the Roberts brothers, Fergus and Douglas, suggesting that the victor may not be decided until the final stages of the undulating two-lap run course.
