Mary Hardwick, the Chair of British Triathlon has announced that she is stepping down from her role with immediate effect for personal reasons.

She took over the role in July 2019 having previously served on the Board as a non-executive director for six years. During this time, she was involved in significantly improving governance of the sport as well as championing the drive to increase diversity on the British Triathlon Board.

Andy Salmon, Chief Executive said ‘On behalf of the Board and staff, I would like to thank Mary for her hard work and dedication to British Triathlon throughout her time on the board and more recently as Chair. She leaves the organisation in really good shape and has been a great colleague to work with and we will miss her knowledge and energy. We would like to wish her every success in the future.’

Mary Hardwick said ‘I have enjoyed a long association with the sport of Triathlon and with British Triathlon and am delighted to have been able to contribute to the great progress made in recent years. My decision was a difficult one but is right for me in the context of my other commitments. I wish the Board and staff at British Triathlon every success in the future and look forward to further contributing to the growth of the sport on a more local level.’

British Triathlon will begin the search for a new chair immediately.
