Current and previous Great Britain Age-Group Team members are invited to celebrate being part of the Great Britain Age-Group Team by joining fellow members at the British Triathlon Age-Group Celebration Cup when it returns in May this year.
Athletes who have represented the GB Age-Group Team in the past, as well as current team members, will be able to take part in a weekend of racing and celebration at Mallory Park, Leicestershire, on 28 and 29 May 2022.
With six multisport events on the Saturday and five draft-legal races on the Sunday, the weekend, which is exclusive to Age-Group Team members, will allow Age-Group athletes the chance to take part in as many races as they would like, so they can compete in their favourite event, as well as try something new like cross duathlon or aquabike.
The racing on Saturday will include separate races in cross duathlon, cross triathlon, aquathlon, aquabike, sprint triathlon and sprint duathlon, before draft-legal waves in sprint duathlon and sprint triathlon on the Sunday.
Alongside the individual events, there will also be an opportunity to enter into the mixed team relay on the Sunday afternoon, which is free to enter. The Home Nations Cup will take place across the weekend and see athletes nominate themselves to represent England, Scotland or Wales during the weekend.
Points in the Home Nations Cup are awarded on performances for each athlete over the weekend and the Home Nation with the largest number of points will claim the 2022 Age-Group Home Nations Cup.
Away from the racing, there will be lots going on as part of the celebration weekend, including opportunities for athlete development through draft-legal cycling coaching sessions, Clean Sport workshops, and seminars on open water, injury prevention and nutrition.
The 2022 event follows the success of the first ever British Triathlon Age-Group Celebration Cup which was held in September 2021.
