Great Britain Age-Group Team out in force in Pontevedra

This weekend will see British Triathlon members head to the World Triathlon Age-Group Championships to represent the Great Britain Age-Group Team in Pontevedra, Spain.

Racing across aquabike and sprint and standard distance triathlon, 456 members will pull on the GB trisuit and race on Friday (super sprint triathlon) and Sunday (aquabike and standard distance triathlon). 

The activity begins on Thursday evening where the GB Team will join athletes from around the world at the Parade of Nations. This celebration of global swim, bike, run will bring together national teams as one to walk from Plaza Herreria to Plaza de Espana for the Opening Ceremony. 

The Age-Group Team provides opportunities for British Triathlon Core and Ultimate members to qualify and represent Great Britain in World Triathlon and Europe Triathlon Championships across the range of multisport disciplines and distances.   

Pontevedra in north-west Spain will challenge the athletes to a river swim before the dry land disciplines take to the roads and routes around the city. 

As with the elite races this weekend, the Age-Group action will also culminate at the Centro Galego de Tecnificacion Deportiva. The medal ceremonies will then take place at the Plaza de Espana on each day of racing, with the event coming to a close on Sunday night with the Closing Ceremony at the same location.
