Langridge wins Silver at Challenge Canberra.

Published:

Fenella Langridge narrowly missed out on winning the 2023 Challenge Canberra as she secured silver, coming in just nine seconds after the winner.

The Brit led out of the water by just three seconds from Australian Chloe Hartnett with eventual race winner Netherlands’ Els Visser over three minutes back in sixth. Langridge extended her lead in T1 and while she pulled away from the majority of the field on the bike leg, Visser recorded the fastest time of the day to close in on the race leader.

Again, Langridge was quick out of transition, but she was just six seconds clear of Visser by the end of lap one of the run course. The pair then spent the remainder of the race neck and neck as they both looked for an advantage in the closing stages. With the finish line insight Visser kicked on to out sprint ahead of the Brit with her time of 04:20:48, nine seconds faster than Langridge’s. Australian Radka Kahlefeldt finished a distant third, six minutes behind Langridge to complete the podium.
