Published:

British Triathlon, who nominated Ian Howard, Maisie Bancewicz and Mark Barfield for positions voted on yesterday (13 June) at the European Triathlon Union (ETU) Congress in Alanya, Turkey, are pleased to announce that their valued contribution and commitment to the continued development of the sport in Europe has been recognised.

Howard, the current British Triathlon President and a senior vice president at Siemens, brings more than twenty years triathlon experience to the ETU Executive Board. Mark Barfield will be part of the ETU Paratriathlon Committee and Maisie Bancewicz will take up her part in the ETU Technical Committee.

After the success of all three British candidates in ETU elections, Ian Howard commented: "I am delighted to join the Executive Board of the ETU and to pick up and continue the good work of Dr Sarah Springman who has stood down to concentrate on her International Triathlon Union role as First Vice President. As important for British Triathlon are the appointments of Maisie Bancewicz and Mark Barfield to the Technical and Paratriathlon committees respectively. "

The ETU Congress preceded the ETU Triathlon European Championships which take place in Alanya, Turkey from 14-16 June.
