Important notes.

For a race to be eligible to be a part of the 2017 series the following must be met by the organising club:

  • All races must be permitted by Triathlon England.
  • Where multi lap courses are used, counting of laps must be the done by the organisers and should not be the sole responsibility of the competitor.
  • Results must be supplied in Excel format or similar within 7 days of the event to the Junior Coordinator and must include as a minimum; competitors name, home nations membership number, affiliated club and finishing time.
  • Referees reports should be sent to the Junior Coordinator for scrutinising by the NE Committee.
  • Races must be advertised, or at least noted on the Clubs nominated web site at least 3 months before the event.
  • Event information, including outline timetable for the day must be available on the Clubs nominated website at least 2 weeks prior to the event, preferably sooner.
  • Events should be open for entries at least 4 weeks prior to the event date.
  • Any queries about the results from the Junior Coordinator should be responded to within 48 hours.
  • If another race wishes to be included in the series at a later date, this can be done by approval by the Junior Coordinator. This can only happen if the said race is organised by a minimum of 3 months prior to race day.
  • Failure to comply with the above may result in your event not being considered.

As was the case in 2016, athletes would be scored on their 5 best performances of which at least 3 must be Triathlons and one of those open water. The remaining two can be made up of either Triathlons, Duathlons and Aquathlons.

The scoring system will be the same so points are calculated based on the winning time with the winner receiving 100 points. Subsequent results are calculated by dividing the winning time by the recorded time for all other athletes and multiplying the result by 100 (eg. winner - 1hr 18mins = 100pts, 2nd - 1hr 19 minutes 36sec would receive 97.99 points 78 mins divided by 79.6 mins x 100 = 97.99).

To be eligible for prizes at the end of the series, athletes must:

-compete as a member of Triathlon England, Triathlon Scotland or Welsh Triathlon.

-reside in the North East, or be a member of a North East club.

Prizes for the top 3 males and females in each Tristars group will be awarded at the end of the series at the Annual Presentation Event. (Date to be confirmed).
