Cadets give tri a go

The inaugural Cadet GO TRI took place at the weekend at the lovely settings of Barnard Castle School.

Organised by the North of England RFCA the GO TRI consisted of a 100m pool swim, 5km bike ride and a 2.5km run.

Over twenty North East Cadets aged between 15 and 18 years old took part in their first ever swim, bike, run.

The event was organised by the regional cadet team with support from Darlington Junior Triathlon Club and Barnard Castle School. A special thanks goes to Neil Smith from the triathlon club and also Mrs Sue Snowdon, Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Durham for coming as a supporter of the school and cadet forces along with her husband to present medals to all the finishers.

There are going to be two more GO TRI events in the region for cadets with the next one taking place on Sunday 21 May in Ashington.  Further details can be found here.

Well done everyone.
